Children Demand End to Violence on Special Day

The Child Protection Network (CPN) in collaboration with the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IIDEA) organized a National Children’s Day event at the State Secretariat, Bimbo Odukoya Foundation, 12 Industrial Estate Road, Ilupeju. The theme “Inclusion for Every Child” resonated throughout the gathering, which brought together children from various local governments in Lagos, including those with disabilities.

Goodwill messages from organizations such as IIDEA, MYSD, NPF, JWC, WAPA, NAPTIP, NHRC, and AWLA emphasized the need for a safer and more inclusive environment for all children. Mrs. Amanda Demechi Asagba, President of the African Women Lawyers Association (AWLA), was among the dignitaries present.

Victory Ekong, a student from The Salvation Army, expressed her joy at being part of the celebration, stating that she learned a lot and urged the government to provide for children with disabilities, ensuring they feel loved and important in society. Azobiewe Unia, a student from Silverdale International School Lagos, shared his happiness at attending the event and promised to spread the message of what he learned to his peers.

The event aimed to raise awareness about the rights and well-being of children, emphasizing the need to end violence against them. The children’s voices were loud and clear, demanding a safer and more inclusive future for all.
